The new building called the Greenhill Building for Harrow Arts Centre (HAC) consists of a 2-storey, L-shaped plan with two large teaching spaces on the ground floor and smaller studio-based classrooms on the first floor beneath the asymmetrical serrated roof arrangement.
The sawtooth roof profile inspired by the patchwork of agricultural heritage buildings on the site is designed to provide generous top light into the spaces. The high proportion of glazing and minimal walls on the ground floor also resulted in adopting a column-and-beam structural approach.
